What's This About?
Sometimes, Moms and Babies need help! You are invited to gather material support for Moms and Babies in our community to share the love and compassion of Jesus with these precious ones.
It's called a "Community Baby Shower"!
You simply choose a date and we print the date on our door-hangers. You place the door-hanger on the doors of a neighbourhood and then return on the day written on the door-hanger and pick up the items people leave on their doorstep. Then you bring all your gathered items to the Valley Care Pregnancy Centre (or we can pick them up) and celebrate what God has done through you.
Option 1 - Collect Baby Items
Here's some tips on how to do this:
First, pile in that van (or car, on foot or pogo stick) and put door-hangers on door knobs of houses which explain what you are planning to do (see a sample door-hanger here). Just tell us the date and we will print them with the date you are planning to return to gather the items on the list (the list is on the back of the flyer).
On the flyer, it lists suggested baby items and it shows a date when you will be back to pick up the baby items. The flyer tells people to put the baby items in a plastic bag on their door step with a note saying they are to help moms and babies.
People use the time between when you deliver the flyers and when you go back to pick up the baby items to purchase or gather the baby items they want to donate.
Then, on the date that you had written on the flyer (saying when you will return) you pile back in that van (or, you know) and go gather the items from the doorsteps of the places you had left the flyers. You can leave a Thank-You note along with a Gospel tract and/or information about your church or group at every home that provides a bag of items.
Note: There is no need to talk to people or knock on doors. On the first day, you just hang the door-hanger on the door knob. On the return date, you just pick up the labelled bag of baby items from people's door steps.
After you've collected the awesome things for helping moms and babies, just call or text us at 902-678-6217 and we'll come pick up your stuff or you can deliver it to our office at 104 Webster Street in Kentville.
Option 2 - Spread the Word
Moms and Babies need to know we are here for them. Here's some tips on how to do this:
1. Contact us to get information door hangers (see a sample here) to distribute (and check with us to see if people have already delivered these in your area).
2. PILE IN A VAN with friends and go door to door in your community handing out flyers so people know that help is available to them.
This option only requires a one-time event. You are only delivering flyers from door to door in people's mailboxes or hanging "Information" door-hangers on their door knobs.
Note: No need to talk to people or knock on doors. Just drop off information so that people know there is help available.
